Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli will be at HeurekaFriday 11/17/17, time 8:08 PM Paolo is currently at the international space station (ISS). He is now the third time in space. Heureka organizes a space day on December 4, 2017. Paolo will take contact from ISS to Heureka, so he will be in space and we are down. It will certainly be interesting. Come to Heureka! Galaxy phone rescue operation at Salovesi, Finland.Saturday 11/11/17, time 11:44 AM My friend Eerik Lehto has lost his phone. So he asked me for rescue diving. Water and air was +3 and visibility was 50 cm. After 5 minutes searching I could give Eerik back his phone. This was fun!

Branson has visited Finland many times and he knows Finland very well. My Rocket-Uno will get a bigger motorTuesday 8/15/17, time 5:05 PM In the winter of 2015-2016 I built my Rocket-Uno to be a show car, then there was no time to do anything to the engine. Now I got a bigger engine for 30 euros. Engine size will grow from 999 cc to at least 1108 cc. Power and torque will also increase. After that, my Rocket-Uno goes really fast, maybe even at speed of light. My car mechanic, Oliver Torres, will provide the necessary help. The whole engine will be fixed, tuned and the engine room will also get a new look. The new engine August 15, 2017 at my garage.

Result of Wife Carrying World Championship 2017Thursday 7/13/17, time 1:49 PM We lost the world championship with Kristiina by 45 seconds. Our time was 1 min 55 seconds, which was OK if you think of how much we did do training. We might also participate in the competition in the next year because it is so fun. Wife Carrying World ChampionshipsSaturday 7/1/17 I did drive my Rocket-Uno yesterday from Helsinki to Sonkajärvi 500 km. On Friday evening we did the last practices. A couple of jums to water and some logs crossing in the real track. The race will start at 3:00 pm and at 5:30 pm there is the prize giving ceremony. Wife Carrying is one part of the official Finnish Astronaut training program and that is why I am carrying a wife. You can check it from Finnish Space Research Society. My Raketti-Uno got a good place in the Wife Carrying area and I put the stand in the picture in the front of the car. More pictures of the event will come later to my page and I will also tell you how it went :)

Wife Carrying World Championships 2017 is comingMonday 6/26/17, time 9:41 PM Yesterday was made with Kristiinän our 4. Wife Carrying training. We've been running Munkkiniemi Sports Center now four times and we did also the first water exercise in the ocean. We've improved the performance in each training, and we are ready for the race on Julu 1st, 2017. The last training is either on Friday or Saturday, so you can practice a couple of rounds on the right competiton track in formula style.

Tim Peake and Sir Richard BransonTuesday 5/30/17, time 8:17 PM Virgin Galactic hosted an event on May 26, 2017 in London. The speakers were the English astronaut Tim Peake and Sir Richard Branson. Tim Peake made a 2016 half-year flight into space. At the event there was also Anousheh Ansari, one of the main sponsors of the Ansari X prize. In 2004, SpaceShipOne won the Ansari X Prize after flying 2 times to space in 2 weeks. The prize was $ 10 million. We were 150 Virgin Galactic customers at the event. Beth and Andy were my guest. Timothy Kopra visit to Heureka May 9th, 2017Tuesday 5/9/17 Today at 17:00 starts the public event, where Kopra will tell about his latest space trip in 2016. I will go to Heureka a little earlier, it would be nice to change a few words with Kopra before the public event. Kopra told more than 2 hours about his space trip and his ideas about space research. I was today at the Model Expo in Helsinki at Finnish Space Research Society department. We did show a variery of self-made rockets, which can fly from 100 meters to 2300 meters depending on the model. We try to get new members by our model rocket building cources. The pictures shows the club's biggest rocket, which has flown to 2300 meters.

Kopra is a great performer, I've been listening to his space stories in 2010 and 2016. And I'm happy to listen his stories again :). He is will be at Heureka on May 9, 2017. |
First training for Wife Carrying World ChampionshipSaturday 3/11/17, time 9:25 PM Today we had the first common training for Wife Carrying Word Championship. My "wife", Eveliina Huttunen, came from Turku for training. We trained in Espoo indoor track and we had three of 200-300 meters test runs. Now we both have a good understanding of how the Wife Carrying runs. I need still more muscles in my legs, in order to get Wife Carrying go faster. We will have some common practices before the competition. The competition will be held July 1st 2017 Sonkajärvi.
